Alfândega do Porto Congress Centre

The Alfândega do Porto stands as Porto’s flagship congress venue and arguably one of the most impressive conference centres in Southern Europe. Originally constructed between 1860 and 1869 as the city’s main customs house, the building was designed by French architect Jean Colson in a grand neoclassical style, with imposing granite facades stretching 145 metres along the Douro riverfront. Following a meticulous restoration completed in 2003 by architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, the Alfândega has been transformed into a world-class congress and cultural centre while preserving its original architectural character.

The venue offers over 14,000 square metres of configurable event space, distributed across three main levels. The ground floor features the vast Nave, an open-plan hall with cast-iron columns and natural light from clerestory windows, suitable for exhibitions, trade shows, and large-format receptions. The upper floors contain multiple meeting rooms and boardrooms equipped with integrated AV systems. The building’s highlight is the panoramic riverside terrace, which provides a spectacular backdrop for cocktail receptions and outdoor networking events with views across to the Port wine cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia.

Exponor — Feira Internacional do Porto

The complex offers 60,000 square metres of covered exhibition space across multiple interconnected halls, with clear-span layouts, heavy-load flooring, integrated utility connections (electricity, water, compressed air, data), and drive-in access for vehicles and large equipment.

Exponor regularly hosts major international trade shows including Concreta (construction), Portugal Home Week, and Alimentaria (food industry), as well as consumer exhibitions and cultural events. The venue sits directly on the Porto metro network (Exponor station on the Matosinhos line) and is accessible from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport in under twenty minutes by road. Palácio da Bolsa — Stock Exchange Palace

The Palácio da Bolsa is ideally suited for gala dinners (up to 300 guests in the Arab Room), awards ceremonies, executive receptions, and VIP corporate events where venue character is paramount. Casa da Música

The building’s faceted concrete form sits at the western edge of the Rotunda da Boavista, and its interiors combine raw industrial materials with refined acoustic engineering.

The main auditorium, the Sala Suggia (named after the celebrated Porto-born cellist Guilhermina Suggia), seats 1,300 and features corrugated glass walls that allow natural light and views of the city from within the performance space — a remarkable and unique feature for a concert hall. A second, more intimate auditorium, the Sala 2, seats 300 and is particularly suitable for corporate presentations, product launches, and panel discussions. Convento de São Bento da Vitória

The convent’s cloister, refectory, and chapter house have been sensitively restored to accommodate contemporary use while preserving their monastic character. The venue is particularly popular for academic conferences, book launches, arts-related corporate events, and private dinners for up to 150 guests.
